可以及物，也可以不及物，具体取决于实际的应用。
① 及物动词。 To equal (an opponent or an opponent's score) in a contest.或To equal an opponent's score in (a contest)。
例： a) The guest team tied the game with minutes remaining. 客队在比赛还有几分钟结束时，把比分追平。
b) They tied the game with minutes remaining. 在比赛结束前几分钟，双方还是平手。
② 不及物动词。 To achieve equal scores in a contest.
例子：Team USA and （Team）Germany tied in the first game. 美国队和德国队在首场比赛中打成平手。 当然这句也可用说成 ended in a tie或were tie（d) （名词或过去分词作形容词）。
