恶劣的天气使人们不能去参加游行.
The bad weather discouraged people from participating in the parade.

attending虽然有参加的意思，但是一般都是指会议或是仪式，而游行之类的还是用participate比较好。

乘飞机可以用flying.比如Tom常常飞往世界各地。可以说：Tom often flies to many places around the world.这里的fly是动词，并且变成了第三人称单数。

第一句，we tried to assure the nervious old man that flying was safe.

你错误之处1，try to do something,try后要加to。第2处，用was,因为flying不是复数，并且要用safe,因为safety是名词。这里是形容飞行是安全的，是说“飞行是安全的”，要用形容词safe。

第二句，many mothers try to realize their dreams through their daughter.
many 后面加名词复数，和a不能一起用。一起用岂不是成了“许多一个妈妈”？
实现，realize,动词。 我觉得用through可能好点，我感觉。
